May The Force Be With You.

 By Geeky Gem

You may think from the title of this blog that this might be about Star Wars. However this is not about Star Wars but about 4 Geeks that came together to start a blog.

15 months ago Hmsbeefnuts and myself came together and decided it was time we hit the internet with of own brand of fun and geekness. Along the way bloggers have joined us, Kirkie Chick with her fabulous take on gaming for girls and her weekly top 10. Caelrona joined us and she brought a mix of anime and manga all the way from America. We even had guest blogs from Ammzzy who told about Wolf Grit by Anne Rice and few choice other things.

We’ve had a lot of fun, from KirkieChick, Ammzzy and Myself spending the weekend at the SFX Weekender to my trip to Hogwarts. You’ve enjoyed Hmsbeefnuts own brand of blogging and had some great stuff from across the sea with Caelrona. I am guessing by now that you may know where I am going with this. So I guess I better get to it.

goodbye

With the increasing lack of time that myself and Hmsbeefnuts seem to have lately we can now longer give All Geek To Me the time it should have. So it is with a heavy heart that we have decided to close All Geek To Me down. It’s a very sad time as after 15 months and 90,000 views we have to go. Which is a shame we have worked very hard on the blogs you have all come to read and we thank you all very much if you have ever read, commented or liked anything we have done.

I hope you have enjoyed all we have had for you to view here at All Geek To Me.

But for the last time this is good-bye from us and thank you.

Hmsbeefunts, Geeky Gem, Kirkie Chick and Caelrona.

Movie of the Month: April 2013

By Hmsbeefnuts and Geeky Gem

Iron Man 3

Well I guess it’s April, and that means that it’s time for me to pick a movie of the month. Easy Choice for me this month, the start of Marvel Phase 2, Iron Man 3 looks like it’s going to be brilliant. Love Downey Jnr. Love Shane Black, love Iron Man, love Marvel. It’s gona kick Summer off in a big way. What will be the post credits sequence? So exciting, check out the trailer…

Hmsbeefnuts

Well I am not going to lie, Iron Man 3 looks amazing. However as I have to pick something else I think you should go see I have gone with the Evil Dead. I love the original movie and the fact it was banned for so long made me only like it more. If you dont know the story it follows Five friends that head to a remote cabin, where the discovery of the Book of the Dead leads them to unwittingly summon up demons living in the nearby woods. The evil presence possesses them until only one is left to fight for survival. Now the trailer I am going to show you at the bottom is the red band trailer, as the green band one really waters it down and that’s just no fun.

Movie of the Month – March 2013

By Geeky Gem and Hmsbeefnuts

My goodness it appears to be March already, that was quick seems like last month took no time at all. Well back to the matter at hand Movie of the Month. As always I found this month hard to pick a movie I fancied seeing. Then a came across Oz the Great and Powerful and thought this is the movie for me.

Oz-The-Great

Yes I know this another movie to do with the wonderful world of Oz, but this time its told from the point of view of the great and powerful man himself. Oz (James Franco) is a small-time magician with questionable ethics. One day he arrives in a magical land and must choose between becoming a good man or a great one. Sam Riami directs this little number from Disney and the screenplay is brought to you by Mitchell Kapner and David Lindsay-Abaire. This is all based on the book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz By L. Frank Baum. There aren’t many people who don’t know the story of Oz but this one looks like a good new take on a classic story. Here is the trailer for you to enjoy.

Geeky Gem

Oz looks good, but I have to go with The Rock. Dwayne Johnson never lets me down, yes even The Tooth Fairy was worth a look. GI Joe Retaliation is out this month, and as it stars The Great One, I have to choose it.

Movie of the Month: Febuary 2013

By Hmsbeefnuts and Geeky Gem

Wreck-it-ralph_img

Hello and welcome to my choice of February’s Movie of the Month. This month it is the quite simply fantastic looking Wreck It Ralph. A host of Video Game cameos, and what looks like a whole lot of fun. Hopefully I am proved right, I have been looking forward to this film for some time. Check out the trailer below…

Well I have to admit that does look good doesn’t which made my pick even harder. There are some good movies out this month and I have to say I am finding this a hard pick. So I think I going to go with this Zombie movie starring Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer and John Malkovich. I am of course talking about Warm Bodies.

wb

This a movie about a zombie who becomes involved with the girlfriend of one of his victims. It is with this that their romance sets in motion a sequence of events that might transform the entire lifeless world. I have to admit I knew very little about this movie before seeing the trailer bu the second I did I thought I wouldn’t mind watching that so my pick for this month is in fact Warm Bodies. As always here is the trailer for you all to enjoy.

Movie of the Month: January 2013

By Geeky Gem and Hmsbeefnuts

Well it is very nearly our birthday here at All Geek to Me, its been one whole year since Hmsbeefnuts and I decided to share our geekyness with you all and since then we have grown. New bloggers joined us in the form of KirkieChick and Caelrona, we’ve also had guests blogs from Ammzy. All of this has been great but I am sure we’ll write more about that on the day it’s self. Who knows, any way back to the matter in hand Movie of the month, last year Hmsbeefnuts took all the odd months and i had the even months. This year we have switched things up. So for our first movie of the month for 2013 i give you Django Unchained.

Django-Unchained

This is the new movie from Quentin Tarantino, you know the guy that Killed Bill, From Dusk til Dawn. You know him, anyway he also wrote the screen play for this movie and it stars Jamie Foxx and Leonardo DiCaprio. It tells the tale of Django who with the help of his mentor, a slave-turned-bounty hunter sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal Mississippi plantation owner. Now from what I have seen of the trailer it looks really good, I like Tarantino movies and this one looks really good. I shall say now more so here is the trailer.

Well that’s my pick until next month.

Geeky Gem

Hello, Hmsbeefnuts here, now I have had a look at January movies, and to be honest, there is nothing that takes my fancy quite like Django Unchained. The reviews I’ve read have been stellar, and I really think that Tarrantino is making his best films right now, with Inglorious Basterds my personal favourite Tarrantino Movie. Django looks equally as awesome, so I’m afraid that I’m just going to have to back up what Geeky Gem has said. That, or go and see The Hobbit again, because it is fantastic. Happy New Year!!!

Movie of the Month – December 2012

By Geeky Gem and @hmsbeffnuts

Welcome to our last movie of the month for 2012, its been a fantastic year for us here at All Geek To Me, as we will soon be turning one years old. It’s a very exciting time. However this is not why we are here, we are here to talk about our last Movie picks for 2012, now I know this may sound a little sad but when I heard this movie was being made there was now way it wasnt going to be pick for the month. So I bring you The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

I loved the Lord of the Rings and think Peter Jackson did an excellent job bringing that story to the silver screen, so when I heard he was going back to the star of te story with The Hobbit I was one very excited Geek. With many of the cast returning for this movie, which is now to become a trilogy I cant wait to see the book i read in High School come to life on the big screen.

For those who don’t know The Hobbit is about Bilbo Baggins who is a curious Hobbit, that journeys to the Lonely Mountain with a vigorous group of Dwarves to reclaim a treasure stolen from them by the dragon Smaug.

Now for those who know me the Dragon isn’t the only reason I want to see this movie, I want to see Jackson take us back to the start. I hope this movie is as good as Jackson’s other movies.

As always here is the trailer for you to enjoy.

Geeky Gem

Really? You want me to try and think of another film that you should see? Go see The Hobbit. See it twice if it’s good. Hopefully I will be seeing it a lot. I saw Fellowship 6 times at the cinema. Go see The Hobbit. That is all, Merry Christmas.

Movie of the Month – October 2012

By Geeky Gem and @hmsbeefnuts

This has to have been one of my easier picks for movie of the month. I really like Bond movies and I have seen them all, no there is a similar argument between who is your favourite Bond as there is who is favourite Batman. I think all the gentleman that have played the secret agent have been fantastic.

However there is just something I love about Daniel Craig’s Bond that makes me watch Casino Royale over and over again and no it’s not because you see him in tight swimming trunks, although that scene is nice to watch. However I went a bit off track there, any way it has been a few years since Quantum of Solace came out and now Bond is back in Skyfall.

The plot for this movie is still very top-secret but what I can tell you is this Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As always for your veiwing pleasure here is the trailer for Skyfall.

Geeky Gem

Well what can I say? Skyfall looks fantastic, and I would have picked that too, but, there is another movie out this month, one with a protagonist with a particular set of skills, skills that guarantee that people are going to get fucked right up. Let me ask you a question, after the events of the brilliant Taken, what gangster in their right mind would seek revenge on Liam Neeson? Did they not watch the first film? Dude went bat shit crazy when they took his daughter. Well I’m not complaining, because this sequel, Taken 2 (Taken Again?), looks just as fun as the original. I expect Liam is kicking himself, because you know the old saying, ‘Take my daughter once, shame on you. Take my daughter twice…shame on me’, so you know Liam is going to be furious about the whole Taken thing again.

Who would win in a fight? Liam Neeson or Daniel Craig? My money is on the big Irish man, years of experience wins the day, although I’m sure Skyfall will win at the box office, there is room for both these guys this month I think. Unusual that we didn’t pick a horror based film too. What will Paranormal Activity 4 be like? I liked 3, and 1 and 2, so I’m not totally dismissing it out of hand, we will have to see. But for now, let Mr Neeson tell you what to watch this October…

MOVIE OF THE MONTH – SEPTEMBER 2012

By @Hmfsbeefnuts and Geeky Gem

So another month flies by, and we are already in September. Crazy times. It will be Christmas before you know it, and I love Christmas, at least I used to. I’ve had 3 shitty Christmases in a row, so this year, I’m planning to have a great old time. Anyway, enough about my festive plans, and onwards to movie of the month! There have been some great comedies this year, I have enjoyed Wanderlust, Ted, 21 Jump Street and even had a some time for the Dictator. I have yet to see The Watch, but it looks like it might be worth your time too, however, this months Movie of the Month is going to be a comedy that looks like an under the radar gem.

The Campaign brings Will Ferrel into direct conflict with Zack Galifinackis, and it looks like this meeting of comedy minds has produced a rather hilarious film. No film in which a grown man punches a small child can be a bad thing, I refuse to believe it. Check out the trailer below, I’m hoping that this film will be a classic on the level of Anchorman or Hotrod. Now I know it probably won’t be that good, but it might be as good as Blades of Glory, and that will be good enough. Of course it might be shit, but then, you have to take a punt on these things don’t you?

@Hmsbeefnuts

I’m not going to lie to you but this month has been really hard to find a movie I wanted to pick for my choice. Beefnuts has already told you about his movie pick for this month and I have to pick the other movie I think you should see, its been a tough one I can tell you that. There is very little out this month making the pickings rather slim to say the least.

However I have manged to pick a movie I think you should give a go and that is Dredd.

In a violent, futuristic city where the police have the authority to act as judge, jury and executioner, a cop teams with a trainee to take down a gang that deals the reality-altering drug, SLO-MO. With Karl Urban taking on Dredd this looks to be a good bit of movie fair. I will tell you no more but leave you to watch the trailer and see for yourself.

Movie of the Month – August 2012

By Geeky Gem and Hmsbeefnuts

We are now in the month of August, which is hard to believe. This means that All Geek is nearly eight months old already. This must mean that it is time for a new movie of the month. when sitting down and having a look at the movies due to grace the big screen this month, one thing became clear. There isn’t much coming out this month that I really fancy.

However one movie has caught my eye, it comes from the mind of the man who bought us Family Guy and American Dad! It will mark his first feature film, this man of course is Seth MacFarlane and what is the movie I hear you cry?

Ted, as I said this is MacFarlane’s first feature film and I for one can’t wait to see what he can do. I am a huge fan of Family Guy and have been for some time. Ted comes about as the result of a childhood wish, John Bennett’s (Mark Walhberg) teddy bear, Ted (Voiced by Seth MacFarlane), came to life and has been by John’s side ever since – a friendship that’s tested when Lori (Mila Kunis), John’s girlfriend of four years, wants more from their relationship.

As always here is the trailer for your viewing pleasure.

Geeky Gem

Ted sure looks good, but as I can’t choose it, perhaps it is time for me, Hmsbeefnuts, to try and pick something else. Two films stand out to me, The Bourne Legacy and The Expendables 2. I’m going for The Expendables 2, despite the fact the that fucking Orange advert with that twat from The Inbetweeners plays before every fucking film I have watched for like 3 months now. Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Van Damme, Lundgren, Statham, Willis, Crews, Li, Coutre and Norris. That is a lot of man right there. The first movie wasn’t that great, but it was a fun night out, this looks more of the same to the power of ten.

Here is the trailer…..
