All Geek To Me has been running for some time now and as I was looking back at over what we have covered I noticed a very big subject matter has not been touched. Music, we have never looked at music. How can this be I hear you cry, well I am not sure why we havent covered this before, anyway I am here now and I plan on telling you about just a few of favourite bands and as always they are in no real order.
Linkin Park is an American alternative metal band from Agoura Hills, California. Linkin Park are Chester Bennington, Rob Bourdon, Brad Delson, Dave Farrell, Joe Hahn and Mike Shinoda they formed in 1996 and have gone from strength to strength their music has changed a lot since their first album Hybrid Theory to their new album Living Things. I have all their albums and have listened to them over and over again. They have also worked with several other artists, most notably with rapper Jay-Z which became an album in it’s own right called Collision Course.
The reason I like Linkin Park is you really have to listen to the words that are being sung to hear what they are saying, some of my favourite tracks are In The End, Leave Out All The Rest and One Step Closer To The Edge. To truly enjoy any of the bands on this list you have to turn them all the way up to eleven.
Green Day is also another American band that I like, they formed in 1987. The band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist and backing vocalist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool.
I first found this band in really weird way, I was at a friend’s house and in his room he had a poster for Dookie on his wall, I liked th poster so much I went to find the album in my local album shop and they had, so I bought and went home to listen to and I found I liked what I heard I couldn’t believe it. I also have all their albums and I cant wait to hear their new one.
Come on this Band has its own musical, I can think of another band that has its own musical and they are a huge band. Green Day was one of the first CD’s I ever bought and I have loved them ever since. I have all their albums and will be getting their new album when it comes out. Green Day is just one of those bands I will neer leave. Some of tracks I like are When I Come Around, Basket Case, Warning and American Idoit.
I thought seen as All Geek is based in UK that I really ought to have a british band on my list and I so happen to like Muse. Muse formed in 1994, the band consists of school friends Matthew Bellamy (lead vocals, lead guitar, piano, keyboards, keytar), Christopher Wolstenholme (bass, vocals, keyboards, rhythm guitar, harmonica) and Dominic Howard (drums, percussion, synthesisers, sampling). Muse is a brilliant band whose songs are best heard at ear bleeding volume their lyrics are fantastic and I don’t now how I didn’t get it earlier.
I was a little late getting to the Muse party, but I am ever so glad I found them again I will be buying their new album when it comes out in the next few months. Some of th tracks I like from Muse are Hysteria, MK Ultra and Uprising.
How could I make this list and leve out the Foo Fighters, I think they are fantastic. The Foo Fighters are again from America and were formed in Seattle in 1994. Dave Grohl made created the Foo Fighters as a one man project after the death of Kurt Cobain, which resulted in Nirvana being no more. Grohl got the name from the UFOs and various aerial phenomena that were reported by Allied aircraft pilots in World War II, which were known collectively as foo fighters. Since then the Foo Fighters have become a huge band and I love their music again I have every album and they are all brilliant.
There is just something about the Foo Fighters as with all the bands on this list that will always have me coming back for more. There band of serious songs but playful videos makes them one in million. Some of my favourite tracks are Walk, Everlong and Best Of You.
I know Hmsbeenuts will agree with me here The D are a brilliant band and should never be taken lightly. They are brilliant in their own right and should be on this list as much as everyone else. Tenacious D are as you should know an American rock band that was formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1994. They are made up of lead vocalist and guitarist Jack Black and lead guitarist and vocalist Kyle Gass. When the band do an album they get a little help from a few friends in the form of guitarist John Konesky, bassist John Spiker, Foo Fighters lead singer and Ex-Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl who plays on every studio release, but while on tour he is replaced with Bad Religion drummer Brooks Wackerman.
The thing about The D is they somehow can mix, rude lyrics with fantastic music and they do it well. Ok so they may some times have a little help from their friends but you have to adit they rock and rock hard. For this band my favourite tracks include Rize of the Fenix, Tribute and Be The Best.
Well that’s it we have some to end of my journey through some of my favourite bands. I am sure I have more and could go one forever but where’s the fun in that.
