UK Weekly Top 10 Movies!

Week ending 2nd December 2012

By Kirkiechick

Welcome back this week! The number 1 in the chart has changed this week. Skyfall has in fact been able to take the top spot from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2. So let us see how the rest of the chart fares!

 Skyfall-Poster-Daniel-Craig-406x650

1. Skyfall, £2,275,469: Total: £93,769,331

2. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, £2,180,909: Total: £31,373,440

3. Rise of the Guardians, £1,968,984 (New)

4. Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger!, £1,204,066: Total: £3,165,716

5. Silver Linings Playbook, £749,055: Total: £2,705,416

6. Great Expectations, £544,636 (New)

7. Talaash, £389,522 (New)

8. Argo, £338,545: Total: £4,538,400

9. End of Watch, £306,005: Total: £1,356,870

10. Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, £263,163: Total: £21,755,873

We have a number 2 The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 still bringing in the fans of Twilight. I suspect that some men are being dragged to watch the film by their partners! At number 3 sees a new entry with children’s film, Rise of the Guardians. An evil being threatens the innocence of children around the World; the Immortal Guardians must save them. They consist of the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, Jack Frost and others. Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger! is at number 4, gearing up for Christmas. Number 5 sees the film Silver Linings Playbook. All those Bradley Cooper fans seeing this one! Number 6 is a new entry for a Charles Dickens classic, Great Expectations. I don’t think this was the best time to release this film. There was only an adaptation on BBC1 last Christmas of this story. I think it may quietly slip out of the top ten within a couple of weeks. Number 7 sees a Bollywood film called Talaash. A murder mystery thriller. A famous Indian film star dies in a car crash. A cop investigating meets a sex worker as well as struggling with personal psychological problems. There is a connection between the mystery and these people, which will change their lives. At number 8 is Argo, a wonderful film. I highly recommend. End of Watch is at number 9. This looks like a good cop film. To finish the chart off is Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted at number 10 keeping the children happy!

I hope there is something for everyone in this chart this week. That is your top ten films for this week. Until next time happy cinema viewing!

MOVIE OF THE MONTH – NOVEMBER 2012

By @hmsbeefnuts and Geeky Gem

I am going to break with tradition this month, and for the first time ever, the movie of the month is no movie, but a game. I was going to pick Wreck It Ralph as my choice, but it’s not out till February next year here in the UK, so that is gigantic megatonnes of monkey shit. There is genuinly nothing else that catches my eye out this month and sorry Gem, but Rise of the Guardians just doesn’t do it for me, I like my Guardians films about Owls. So a game then. November is the month when all the big Christmas games come out, and so it will be hard to choose just one. But cinemas loss in gamings gain. We have WWE ’13, HALO 4, COD: Black Ops 2, Hitman: Absolution, Far Cry 3 and of course Nintendo is releasing their Wii U. Exciting times.

Well I’m going to pick WWE ’13 as my game of the month. I loved WWE ’12, and the addition of all the attitude wrestlers and angles is hopefully going to be stellar. Here is the trailer…

I have to admit, that looks good. However when I sat down to tink about what I will pick for the other movie I think you should watch I found it hard. there is very little out this month that I fancy seeing then I came across this little nugget, The Rise of the Guardians.

Dreamworks are behind this tale, a tale that see’s the Tooth Fairy team up with Santa Claus. The story is simple Jack Frost is a happy-go-lucky boy, with no responsibilities in the world, apart from bringing winter wherever he goes. Now as we all know this is never always going to be the way and everything changes when Pitch,  the Nightmare King, plans to engulf the world in darkness. Leading to the Guardians, Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny and the Sandman teaming up with Jack to bring Pitch down and protect the all the children of the world.

It looks like a nice little movie to enjoy so as always here is the trailer.
