Hello and welcome to the New Year and this week’s chart. The top spot has not moved and is still The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. I finally got to see the film last week. I really enjoyed the film. It was long at nearly three hours but worth the watch. Let’s see the rest of the chart!

At number 2 we have a new entry in the form of The Impossible. A film based on the true life events of the 2004 Tsunami, following the tale of a family separated and their journey back to each other. The film stars Ewan MacGregor and Naomi Watts. At number 3 we have Life of Pi still going strong. I do recommend this film for the visuals alone. Number 4 is a new entry with Quartet, a film for the “Grey Pound” audiences (the older generation). This film has an amazing cast, Maggie Smith, Billy Connolly and Pauline Collins. The film is also the first film to be directed by Dustin Hoffman. Set in a retirement home for retired Opera Singers. Jack Reacher is still sitting strong in the chart. At number 6 is Pitch Perfect, keeping the teens happy. I have seen groups of older women going in to see this film. At number 7 is Parental Guidance. Keeping families entertained. Number 8 is Rise of the Guardians being popular for the children. Skyfall is still in the chart at number 9. People are still going to see this film. You can already pre-order the film on DVD for February. At number 10 is Tinkerbell and the Secret of the Wings, another children’s film.

A film with singing, drama and romance. This film is similar to High School Musical and Glee. At number 5 we have Parental Guidance. Billy Crystal and Bette Midler are Grandparents who look after their grandchildren. Cue comic situations. Rise of the Guardians is at number 6. A cartoon for Christmas! Number 7 is Skyfall is still bringing in the audience. Everyone trying to see the film before it leaves cinemas. Tinker Bell and the Secret of the Wings is at number 8 for the children. At number 9 we have the Christmas film, Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger! is entertaining the masses this Christmas. Number 10 is The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 is still hanging in the chart!

Number 3 sees Rise of the Guardians entertaining children still. Number 4 is the Christmas film Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger. Number 5 is a new entry with Pitch Perfect, a musical film with a touch of comedy and romance. Number 6 sees Skyfall still popular with the public. Number 7 is a children’s film, Tinkerbell and the Secret of the Wings. Number 8 is a new entry with a Bollywood film, Dabangg 2. A political thriller. Number 9 is The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2. It is still hanging in the chart. Number 10 is Seven Psychopaths. I really enjoyed this film. It was very funny and I laughed out loud several times.

Welcome back the chart! I am back after my absence last week. I do apologise I was away in Cornwall for a couple of days. So back to it then. The number 1 this week has to be The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Finally this long anticipated film has been released! I am yet to see this film but I do hope to soon. Let us crack on with the rest of the chart.

At number 2 we have Rise of the Guardians. Entertaining the children and the rest of the family this Christmas. At number 3 is Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger!. From what I have seen of it, it looks like a decent enough Christmas film! Of course in our chart the film Skyfall is still riding high at number 4. I went to see the film again for a second time the other day. I thoroughly enjoyed it again! At number 5 we have another children’s film, Tinker Bell and the Secret of the Wings. Another spin off film with the character of Tinkerbell first seen in the classic tale and film Peter Pan. At number 6 we have The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 still keeping the audiences coming. Number 7 sees Seven Psychopaths, starring Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell and Christopher Walken. A dark comedy from the creator of In Bruges. Number 8 sees the film Silver Linings Playbook staying in the top ten. I have heard nothing good reviews about this film. Argo is at number 9. Another good film that people should go see. Number 10 sees Great Expectations probably bringing in the older audience or the Grey Pound as the term has been coined!
